Benjamin somehow learned there was a Christmas-only station in the area (you know. All Christmas! All the time!) If you know me, you know that I *might* listen to this for about 5 minutes Christmas morning and call it done. Well, Benjamin went into hysterics the other day demanding Christmas music. I figured he’d get about 5 minutes in and we’d be done…He is my child, right? Well, a week later, and he still asks for Christmas music as soon as I’m done cleaning the kitchen in the morning. Well, on this 24/7 Christmas station, he heard, “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” and every time I oblige and turn on the Hillsong Christmas station on Pandora, he says, “I want the Hippopotamus song!!!!!” I told him the other day, “Benjamin, I prefer my Christmas songs to be about Jesus and talk about his birth…” He looked at me for about 5 seconds and then said, “I prefer my Christmas songs to be about hippopotamuses…” sigh.
Another Christmas music funny: The song Sleigh Ride. You probably only know it if you were involved with band in some way, but at the end there is a trumpet that makes a horse sound. Benjamin laughed himself to tears the first time he heard it. Keaton was finally in the van for it yesterday and heard it. I thought for certain he too would get a kick out of it.
Wrong. He looked at me and said, “Mom, that was an elephant, not a horse.”
There’s a college near here that is strictly for arts/technology and it has some pretty cool dome-shaped buildings. It’s not on our usual course of driving, but we passed it the other day and the boys thought it was very cool. I told Benjamin that I thought they had cooking classes there where he could learn to be a chef if he wanted (he always talks about being a “cooker-man”). Well, he immediately responded with, “I don’t want to do that!” So I asked what he DID want to do. He said, “I just want to eat lunch…” I said, “Well, when you have a job, you will be able to eat…but what do you want to do when you grow up?” His response? “I just want to stay at home all day and eat.” I told him, “good luck with that” 😉
When I asked Keaton what he wanted to be, he told me, “A race car driver!!” (Too much NASCAR in our house??) 😉
This morning, it was cloudy out after we came back from getting Keaton’s chest x-rays (more on that later). There were some breaks in the clouds and Benjamin screamed, “Mommy!!! Look!!! The clouds are coming apart!” hahaha!
